The path for SAP HCM transformation

With SAP HCM, companies revolutionised personnel administration. HR core functions such as payroll, time management and organisational management were brought together in an integrated platform. Now the impending modernisation of HR systems opens the door to a personalised, employee-focussed experience.SAP SuccessFactors HCM offers, through the use of technologies such as machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), combined with basic functions like master data and organisational management, smart HR solutions that map the individual needs and goals of every employee and help them to fulfil their tasks more easily.

Different transformation paths lead from SAP HCM to SAP SuccessFactors HCM. SAP generally recommends in its own scenarios the further development of HR systems towards the cloud. Basically, it is possible to migrate an ageing SAP HCM also to the on-premises edition of SAP HCM for S/4HANA.For most cases, however, SAP recommends with a view to operational costs the migration to a privately-cloud operated SAP HCM for S/4HANA or directly the use of SAP SuccessFactors HCM.

Often it is sufficient to use the SAP SuccessFactors modules Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll and Time Tracking to build a contemporary HR base system. The move to the cloud makes it possible to build HR solutions that are easy to use, require little resource in maintenance and can flexibly adapt to the circumstances of a company. At the same time they enable HR professionals to use the latest technological innovations such as the use of AI in HR.

Because of these advantages, we fully support SAP’s recommendation that, ideally in the modernisation of HR, the old SAP HCM should be replaced by SAP SuccessFactors HCM — and we have designed our consulting offering exactly for this transformation path.

  • More than half (53 %) report faster HR processes.
  • 28 % were able to reduce the costs of managing and supporting HR or IT processes.
